Do online Long Distance Relationships work?

I have never had a long distance relationship but I think they don’t work, my cousin who lives in El Salvador used to have a long distance relationship with  one guy from Germany, they met randomly in a website and really soon became friends, one day he asked her to be his girlfriend and she said yes because he was really handsome, she thought that it wouldn’t be serious but then she fell in love, she was always thinking about him, but she didn’t  trust him, she spent all her time in the computer hoping he would log in, she always lived hoping that he wouldn’t cheat on her, he told her that he loved her more than anything, the first couple of months everything was going well but then they stared to fight because they couldn’t trust each other, one day he just stopped logging in, she was so sad she found out through a program that he had blocked her, and later found out through hi5  that he had another girlfriend in his country, she was heartbroken, fortunately she recovered and found someone else that lived near her.
